Hi! I’m Margaret and I build digital community and indie games.

Let’s be digital BFFs!

While I was in high school, I was a power user on Tumblr and ended up joining the cringe but free movement of brands “talking like humans,” responding to memes as well as creating a brand’s own internet-native moments. Since then, I’ve been working in various NYC media outlets for the past decade, always being hired as the first platform-native social media manager for whatever platform is en vogue that year.

You may have seen me speak about my work at…

My desire to be in journalism was driven by watching way too many rom-com movies so I’m trying to find the best way to be my girly-pop self without having to try to conform to an industry that isn’t ready for the digital revolution of the 2020s.

I’m a digital pop culture strategist and emerging multiplayer game designer. I pride myself on also being a generalist and have worked in tech, design, politics, business and most recently was in the Vanity Fair newsroom, amplifying and defining brand voice on Instagram and TikTok! I’ve directed strategy in everything from Facebook page video to direct partnerships with Twitter to Instagram and TikTok content strategy and am most excited when speaking directly to emerging audiences.

I work with those who have already invested energy into curating an active, curious, and intelligent digital audience. Folks would want to work with me if they’re interested in accessing their current and future customers in a more dynamic way than e-mail newsletters and a more reliable way than other social media platforms.

—- CURRENTLY: I'm available for contract or salaried work!

—- SUMMARY: I was most recently an associate director for Vanity Fair, working under Condé Nast Entertainment. I led social video development and production for the magazine and worked with A-list actors and musicians, as well as behind-the-scenes costume designers and other personnel. I grew the brand's TikTok audience to 1M followers in a year.

Previously, I was a social media editor at The Wall Street Journal where I grew the Instagram account from 1.5M to 3.7M followers. I produced videos with reporters, athletes, CEOs, musicians, and other celebrities. I also featured on WSJ's Women In newsletter. I've been interviewed by Digiday and Nieman Lab as an expert in Instagram strategy.

🌱 an Empathetic Internet

Growing an empathetic internet: More town squares, less “what is the spectacle of the week”

  • I bring a decade of experience to creating self-sufficient systems with heavy initial investment and minimal upkeep costs. I scale projects properly and don’t let projects balloon out of their original intention. I employ a gamification-forward strategy that emphasizes returning user engagement over one-time viral reach.

  • The world needs secure digital places to feel safe and have nuanced conversations out of the eyes of those who may not understand the intricacies and history of each community. I’m providing the security features, monetization scales, community engagement, monitoring and metrics, and digital event execution/planning needed to start up your community space.

  • As an early tech adopter born and raised in the heart of Silicon Valley, I’ve been experimenting with GenAI tech on and off for over a decade. So far, I haven’t seen its usage beyond a parlor trick (a usually simple trick or demonstration that is used especially to entertain or amuse guests, source: Merriam Webster). Also, I love the Earth and the data centers needed to power GenAI are actively working against a greener future.

In all other ways, I’m a continual early adopter and strategist of emerging digital community spaces, especially those on the intersection of art and tech.

Let’s build digital community together!
